Suggested Readings

There are a lot of pop-psychology books out there. Some are a little nutty and some are truly helpful. Many you can find in your local library. Below are a few that I have found helpful in recognizing those quirky things that were getting in the way of a successful college experience.

Don't get overwhelmed if you take on one of these books. Remember that there are no quick fixes over bad habits and destructive behaviors. Small, incremental adjustments will stick over the long run -huge, one week changes won't.

  • "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey
  • "The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity" by Julie Cameron
  • "First Things First" by Stephen Covey
  • "Now, Discover Your Strenghts" by M. Buckingham & D. Clifton, Ph.D.
  • "Do it Now, Break the Procrastination Habit" by Dr. William Knaus
  • Happiness is a Serious Problem by Dennis Prager
  • "Taming Your Gremlin, A Surprisingly Simple Method for Getting
    Out of You Own Way"
    by Rick Carson
  • "Take Time for Your Life" by Cheryl Richardson
  • Organizing from the Inside Out" by Julie Morgenstern
  • "Time Management from the Inside Out" by Julie Morgenstern
  • "Sink Reflections" by Marla Cilley (The Flylady)
  • Traditional Degrees for Non-Traditional Students by Carole S. Fungarolli (Phoenix Libraries is the only place I have found this one)

Check out amazon.com to get all the information you need on any book!
